City of Elberton
Since being selected as a Main Street City in 1997, Main Street Elberton has been annually certified as a National and Georgia Main Street. As such, the city funds a full-time management position to coordinate and implement the Main Street Four-Point Approach®. The Main Street program is administered by a seven-member Board of Directors of the City of Elberton Downtown Development Authority.
As a Main Street America™ accredited program, Main Street Elberton is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by the National Main Street Center.
Main Street Elberton works to increase awareness of the value of small-town living through leadership and a diversity of people, business, and opportunities.
The Main Street program is to enhance the quality of life by strengthening the downtown as the center of the community through concentrated efforts in Leadership, Diversity, Awareness, and Hospitality.

The 4-Point approach is implemented by three work groups: MSAB guides Outreach & Promotions activities; DDA guides economic restructuring initiatives; and HPC guides design and preservation efforts.
